Atmospheric visibility has a significant impact on traffic safety. Adverse weather conditions such as dense fog, thick mist, sandstorms, heavy rain, snowstorms, and smoke pollution often reduce atmospheric visibility, posing great challenges to safe operations. Statistics show that approximately 25% of highway traffic accidents are caused by dense fog and icy road conditions, with the accident rate at night being 1-1.5 times higher than during the day, and under severe weather, the highway accident rate is even 10 times that of normal conditions. Therefore, accurate monitoring of visibility along highways is essential.
Visibility sensors have become the solution to this problem. The FT-N10 10km cast aluminum Visibility Sensor can be installed along highways to provide real-time and precise measurements of atmospheric visibility. It employs advanced 35° forward scattering principles and infrared LED light sources, combined with a light filter design, effectively resisting light interference. The optical component's lens faces downward and is equipped with a protective cover to prevent precipitation and droplets from entering, reducing lens contamination. The device's surface undergoes anti-corrosion treatment, enabling stable operation in harsh outdoor environments. It transmits measurement data in real time to an intelligent integrated platform, providing traffic management authorities with timely and accurate visibility information to facilitate the pre-emptive implementation of traffic control measures and reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
The cast aluminum body is robust yet lightweight, allowing installation on high-speed moving vehicles. Drivers can obtain real-time visibility information around their vehicles through an in-car display, enabling them to anticipate road conditions, adjust speed, and modify driving behavior in advance to avoid accidents caused by low visibility.
The FT-N10 also offers optional weather phenomenon detection modules, which can identify types of precipitation (rain or snow) and distinguish between drizzle, light rain, moderate rain, and heavy rain. Additionally, a rain gauge module can be added to measure precipitation intensity and accumulation, providing drivers with more comprehensive weather information.
