Accurate monitoring of road conditions is conducive to ensuring traffic safety and improving road operation efficiency. Traditional road monitoring methods have limitations, and the emergence of Road Condition Monitor has brought us new solutions.
One of the major advantages of Road Condition Monitor is remote sensing technology. This technology analyzes road conditions by emitting light waves of specific wavelengths and receiving spectral information reflected from the road surface. Without the need for complex wiring or direct contact with the road surface, the sensor can remotely obtain road condition data. Typically, its effective monitoring distance can reach several meters, and even more than ten meters in open sections, enabling efficient monitoring in areas where traditional sensors are difficult to install, such as busy highways and bridges. Moreover, the application of this remote sensing technology reduces traffic interference caused by the installation of monitoring equipment. There is no need to close roads or carry out large-scale construction, minimizing the impact on normal traffic order.
Non-contact measurement is another prominent advantage of this sensor. Different from traditional embedded sensors, Road Condition Monitor does not require damaging the road structure for installation. When installing traditional embedded sensors, it is necessary to cut the road surface and bury the sensors, which not only consumes a lot of manpower and material resources but also damages the road surface and shortens the service life of the road. In contrast, remote sensing sensors can be installed on roadside columns, existing weather station brackets, or buildings with unobstructed views. This non-contact design avoids wear and tear caused by the sensor's long-term contact with the road surface and vehicle rolling. It reduces maintenance frequency and costs, improves data reliability, and avoids monitoring errors caused by changes in road installation positions.
The sensor has all-weather working capability. In the face of severe weather such as rainfall, snowfall, and thick fog, the filter lenses and anti-light source interference circuits can effectively eliminate the impact of external environmental light changes, ensuring the accuracy of the obtained road surface spectral information. When complex conditions such as water accumulation, icing, and snow accumulation occur on the road surface, the sensor can accurately identify and measure the thickness of road water films, ice layers, and snow, as well as determine the road friction coefficient through multi-spectral measurement technology, providing timely and accurate road condition data for traffic management departments and road maintenance personnel.
At present, Road Condition Monitor has become an important device for modern traffic road condition monitoring, providing data sources for traffic safety and efficient road management.
As a special section in the transportation network, tunnels, with their enclosed environment, are susceptible to factors such as vehicle exhaust, air flow changes, and light differences. Professional monitoring equipment is therefore needed to ensure traffic safety. The following introduces four key...
Wildfire dynamics are highly influenced by on-site meteorological conditions: wind speed and direction determine the fire’s spread path, while temperature affects both fire intensity and rescue safety. Real-time and accurate meteorological data serve as the "lifeline" for emergency respon...
Atmospheric light transmittance refers to the ratio of the light intensity after light propagates through gases, aerosols, particulate matters and other substances in the atmosphere to the incident light intensity. Measuring the atmospheric light transmittance is of great significance for the transp...
The fall armyworm, also known as the autumn armyworm, is an agricultural pest native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. The adult has a wingspan of 32 - 40 mm. The forewings are gray to dark brown, and the hindwings are white with a narrow brown band along the edge. The larvae...
